Scripts

Small helpers for tasks that come up surprisingly often.
Not every problem needs a program with windows, menus and settings. Sometimes a few sensible lines are enough — provided you still know afterwards what those lines actually do.
Here you will find scripts born out of real tasks that save work. Each script therefore comes with more than a download: What does it do? What does it need? What does it change? And why was it built this way?

SSH · Bash
Set up SSH keys
Sets up SSH key authentication for a computer or virtual machine. The script first checks whether the key, alias and authentication already work. If everything is configured, the SSH setup remains unchanged.
Requires bash, ssh, ssh-keygen and ssh-copy-id. The initial password-based transfer may also require sshpass.
