mintPDF – Instructions

Install and start

Version 1.39.3 targets Linux Mint 22.x, amd64 and Python 3.12. The DEB includes PyMuPDF 1.28.2 and veraPDF 1.30.3. Install from your Downloads folder:

sudo apt install ./mintpdf_1.39.3_amd64.deb

Start mintPDF from the application menu. F1 opens offline help. Each tool tile opens the appropriate file selector and settings with preview.

Additional tools

APT automatically installs Ghostscript, LibreOffice, OCRmyPDF, Tesseract with German and English language data, wkhtmltopdf and Java as required dependencies. veraPDF for PDF/A creation and validation is included in the DEB. Install with apt install; dpkg -i alone does not download missing dependencies.

Originals and output

Original files are preserved; existing output files are not overwritten. Overlays retain metadata, bookmarks and attachments from PDF 1. Changes can invalidate digital signatures. Revalidate existing PDF/A conformance after editing.
